Studio Lotus has designed the Mehrangarh Fort Visitor Centre in Jodhpur, India.
Commissioned by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust following a three-stage design competition, the Visitor Centre at Jodhpur's 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort responds to growing tourist numbers through an approach that is adaptive, environmentally responsive and capable of evolving over time.
Conceived as an extensible architectural system rather than a singular object-building, this project unfolds as a series of modular, stilted pavilions aligned along a gently ascending pathway.
Positioned as a low horizontal datum against the vertical mass of the fort, the intervention establishes a porous, rhythmic language that recedes into the landscape while remaining legible as a contemporary gesture.
