O'Donnell + Tuomey has designed Sadler's Wells East in London, United Kingdom.
The Sadler's Wells East is the first building in the UK designed for and dedicated to dance in all its forms: performance, composing and experimenting. It houses a flexible dance theatre, a centre for choreography and a hip-hop academy.
"It's a straightforward scheme, designed to be open and welcoming, ready for work. It’s a square building with an orderly plan," said O'Donnell + Tuomey.
The auditorium holds the street corner and its flytower rises to the full height of the building – while six studios wrap around the flytower in two ranges at upper levels.
Below the studios, the free-flowing L-shaped foyer becomes a public living room.
