AOE designed the Sino-Italian Cultural Exchange City Reception Center in Chengdu, China.
This project was created in the hopes of discovering the intersection between the distinct cultural differences of the east and the west.
The overall design concept is taken from the "Ruyi" – used in China since ancient times as a gift to foreign ambassadors to signify the conclusion of friendly relations and peace between the two countries – while the Italian pavilion draws its design inspiration from Italy's most representative piazza, shaping an intimate urban art living room.
The harmony between architecture and nature lies in the use of natural resources, along with the protection of the natural environment – both great considerations made by designer aoe事建组 for this project.
Add in the multi-level outdoor greenery and the brilliant use of buoyant ventilation devices to channel airflow into the building to organically combine the natural elements of light, scenery and wind, and this space provides a connection to nature like no other.
