IJArchitecture has designed a series of circular furniture for the Boswinkel Visitor Centre, using reclaimed elm wood to create a new café corner within a visitor centre.
Circular Furniture for Boswinkel Visitor Centre is a series of custom-designed pieces made from reclaimed elm wood sourced directly from the Amsterdamse Bos area.
Felled or storm-damaged trees are processed by Houtwerf, where the timber is stored, dried and sawn.
The furniture was tailored to the available material and features a zigzag pattern inspired by the Amsterdam School.
The design reflects the city's commitment to circularity by keeping stored CO₂ within the local context and giving the wood a new purpose
This project has been longlisted in the bespoke design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
