Charlot Magayi is founder and CEO of Mukuru Clean Stoves.

Raised in Nairobi, Magayi founded the social enterprise to help protect families against deadly factors affecting communities in the African subcontinent such as household air pollution, energy poverty and malaria.

The organisation has manufactured and distributed over 700,000 life-saving clean cookstoves and in 2024, launched the world’s first patented mosquito-repellent fuel.

The designer has been globally recognised for redefining what African-led innovation can achieve, winning the Earthshot Prize in 2022 and being named a 2025 TIME Climate 100 Leader.
