Andre Becker Arquitetura has designed Loft Brias in São Paulo, Brazil.
Loft Brias' brief called for a compact, healthy and comfortable environment suitable for short-term stays.
The existing building already featured two construction moments: the original core under the ceramic‑tile roof and a later addition with fiber‑cement roofing.
"In the new project, we held onto just two things: the WC's location and the roof that had weathered everything else," said Andre Becker Arquitetura.
"The rest was rebuilt from the ground up, guided by a search for lightness and openness."
The result is a statement about reuse and responsibility: using what already exists, wasting as little as possible and shrinking the carbon footprint of both the dwelling and the city around it.
