Jaime Prous Architects and Pineda & Monedero have designed House 144º near Barcelona, Spain.

Set on a steep forested hillside in the Maresme, House 144º explores how to build a home – without reshaping the landscape.

Designed as a single-storey, nearly zero-energy home for a retired couple, it sits lightly above the terrain, preserving existing trees and topography.

The house's 144° plan directs the living space towards distant views, while the ground below remains largely untouched.

Built from prefabricated timber and wrapped in galvanised steel, House 144º combines passive environmental strategies with a clear structural logic, proposing an architecture that seeks not only to reduce its footprint, but to make that reduction visible.
