Dezeen reveals the world's 55 most outstanding designs shortlisted for Dezeen Awards 2022

Dezeen has announced the design shortlist for this year's Dezeen Awards, which includes designs by Kengo Kuma, Barber Osgerby and Snøhetta.

The 55 shortlisted projects, which are in the running for awards in 11 different design project categories, are from studios located across 18 different countries including Norway, Australia, Spain, Mexico, Ghana and Latvia.

The top three represented countries are UK with 12 shortlisted entries followed by the Netherlands with eight and USA with six.

Five projects were shortlisted in each design category including a watch made from recycled plastic and a suspended sculpture made of mesh fabric.

The shortlist also includes a bright red timber "sinking house" in Bath's Pulteney weir and a textile range that features climate-change data.

All shortlists to be announced this week

The shortlists were scored by our design jury which includes Italian industrial designer Alberto Alessi, V&A museum contemporary programme curator Meneesha Kellay, Salone del Mobile president Maria Porro and Pentagram principal Paula Scher.

The architecture and interiors shortlists were announced earlier this week, the sustainability and media shortlists will be revealed tomorrow and the studio shortlist on Friday.

All shortlisted design projects are listed below, each with a link to a dedicated page on the Dezeen Awards website, where you can find an image and more information about the project. All shortlisted projects will also feature in their own dedicated Dezeen post.

The winner of each project category will be announced online in November. All 11 winners will then go on to compete for the title of design project of the year.

Vote for your favourite project next week

For the third year running, Dezeen Awards is holding a public vote after the shortlist announcements, meaning readers will be able to choose their favourite projects from 12 September onwards.

Projects with the highest number of votes in their category will win a public vote award. Winners will be announced in mid-October, ahead of the Dezeen Awards event in November.
