Casa Naila
by BAAQ

Edmund Sumner

Mexican studio BAAQ has designed a holiday home on the coast of Oaxaca, comprising four blocks surrounding a cross-shaped patio.

Casa Naila, which is named after a traditional song from the region of Oaxaca, is located along the Mexican coast, jutting out into the Pacific Ocean which gives the home scenic sea views.

The studio built four buildings around a cross-shaped patio, taking into consideration the sunny weather, which makes the outside space the social and entertainment area.

The result is a space that accomplishes one of the most noble purposes of architecture: to experience a bond between the inhabitant and the site.

This project has been longlisted in the rural house category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
