BGLA Architecture + Design Urbain has designed the La Pêche New City Hall, an innovative civic building in Quebec, Canada.

La Pêche's new town hall is a two-storey, 1,417-square-metre building that sets a new benchmark in sustainable civic architecture in Québec.

As Quebec’s first institutional building seeking Passivhaus certification, it features a highly insulated and extremely airtight building envelope that reduces energy consumption by 85 per cent.

Inspired by the region's traditional covered bridges, the 18-meter span CLT expressive roof and wood curtain wall reflect local heritage while creating open, flexible interiors with views of Gatineau Park.

Almost entirely made out of wood – including the insulation materials – the building is an extremely low-carbon response rooted in its context.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
