Ma Yansong

Beijing-born architect Ma Yansong is founder of international practice MAD Architects.

The studio approaches architecture through a visionary language of organic forms and technological innovation, to renegotiate boundaries between urban and natural and human and non-human realms.

Recent projects include an airport modelled on misty landscapes and birds in flight and a canopy that reinterprets traditional Chinese paper umbrellas.

In 2025, Yansong was appointed as curator of the China Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale and was named one of TIME 100 most influential people.
