Magallanes Urban Park
by Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra Architect

Fernando Alda

The territory of the intervention, on the right bank of the Guadalquivir River, was the southern access to the 1992 Seville Universal Exposition.
Since its completion, the area has been abandoned and turned into an informal car park where clumps of diseased and neglected trees slope down to the river. Furthermore, this connection to the water was blocked by a barrier of poor quality sports facilities. The proposal is based on demolishing the worthless buildings in favour of greenery. It aims to generate dynamic transit spaces as well as relaxed living areas offering a wide variety of possibilities for everyone.

This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
