1006 Navy Chair by Emeco

Emeco is an American furniture company, founded in 1944 as the Electric Machine and Equipment Company (Emeco). Now based in Hanover, Pennsylvania, it is best known for creating the 1006 Navy Chair, made from salvaged aluminium for US Navy submarines and still in production today.

Gregg Buchbinder acquired the company in 1998 and today Emeco works with a range of contemporary designers including Philippe Starck, Nendo and Barber & Osgerby.

Buchbinder told the story of how he rebuilt the company in an animated movie illustrated by Jean and Nicolas Jullien.
