Ten illuminating lighting designs featured on Dezeen Showroom

Dezeen Showroom: a modular light informed by ocean waves and a solar-powered mood lamp that mimics sunlight are among the latest lighting designs to be featured on Dezeen Showroom.

Other lighting products include a collection of outdoor lights by Danish brand Nordlux, a portable lamp by French brand Petite Friture and glass table lamps by British brand Voltra.

Dezeen Showroom showcases lighting products from a plethora of international brands, designers and manufacturers.

Sunne light by Marjan van Aubel for Sunne

Designer Marjan van Aubel worked with Dutch lighting brand Sunne on a statement lamp that mimics the qualities of sunlight.

Sunne is entirely powered by solar energy, which is collected during the day and stored in the light's photovoltaic cells. When lit up, users can choose between three settings – Sunne Rise, Sunne Light and Sunne Set.

Aludra garden lighting and wall light in an outdoor area with square tiles and planted edge

Aludra outdoor lighting by Jacob Jensen Design for Nordlux

Nordic design studio Jacob Jensen Design collaborated with Danish lighting brand Nordlux on a collection of lights with characterful striated casings, which are suitable for use outdoors.

Aludra includes wall and ceiling-mounted lights as well as two sizes of garden bollard lamps designed to be recessed into the ground.

Tasman by Nightworks

Tasman pendant light by Nightworks

New Zealand-based lighting company Nightworks Studio has released a series of modular pendant lights that reference the waves of the Tasman Sea.

The Tasman pendant light can be hung solo, in groups or as longer statement pieces, which are achieved by attaching single components together with a simple screw mechanism.

Hemera lamp by Voltra

The myths and legends of ancient Greece were the main influences on this collection of lamps by lighting brand Voltra.

Hemera is a tabletop lamp that has a bell-shaped shade made up of inner and outer glass layers. The lamp casts a warm glow making it suitable for use as a mood light.

Quasar portable lamp by Samy Rio for Petite Friture

For French design brand Petite Friture designer Samy Rio created a rechargable 'nomadic' light that can be carried using a durable cord threaded through its head.

Quasar comes in five earthy colours with corresponding multicoloured climbing-style rope. Users can choose between three different colour temperatures ranging from warm to cool white.

Symbioosa lighting by LLEV for Lasvit

Symbioosa lighting by LLEV for Lasvit

Czech brand Lasvit and design studio LLEV collaborated on a lighting collection comprising floor and table lamps that share textural blown-glass shades.

Symbioosa light shades are made by blowing molten glass into moulds made from mycelium, giving the dome-shaped shades their distinctly mottled patinas.

Méne lighting by Ross Gardam

Australian designer Ross Gardam's new collection contains a pendant and table lamp that aim to evoke the weightlessness of celestial bodies.

Méne lamps are made from mouth-blown glass and come in either black or white in frosted or clear finishes.

118 pendant light by Omer Arbel for Bocci

Canadian design brand Bocci has crafted a delicate hanging pendant light that is made up of glass lamps suspended from fine lengths of metal coaxial cable.

118 is characterised by both its shape and the patterning on the glass, which is designed to be reminiscent of feathers or flower petals.

Argyle lighting collection by Nichetto Studio for Rakumba

Australian lighting brand Rakumba and Nichetto Studio have made a modular statement light designed to be used alone or in tandem.

Argyle references the repeating diamond-based patterns of traditional Scottish knitwear. The lights come in pendant, floor and table lamp formats.

Spherical lamp shades in front of white wall

StarDust lamp shades by Marc de Groot

Lighting and product designer Marc de Groot has released a range of spherical lamp shades made from facets of thin metal.

The plates that make up StarDust lamps are hexagonal and pentagonal in shape with linear and round gaps between them, creating constellation-like projections on walls and ceilings when illuminated.
