Winner: Sustainable design of the year 2025. Morrama has designed Kibu, circular children's headphones intended to be built, repaired and recycled.
The Kibu headphones are a product designed to empower children through hands-on learning and creativity. Developed by Morrama and Batch.works, the headphones are made from sustainable materials and designed for easy assembly, repair and customisation.
With a screwless snap-fit design and colourful, interchangeable parts, this product encourages young users to explore how technology works, fostering confidence and curiosity.
This project promotes a circular economy by extending product lifespan through repairability and part replacement.
More than just a tech accessory, Kibu headphones are an educational tool and creative outlet, redefining how children interact with and understand the products they use.
Judge comments: "These circular children's headphones turn their sustainable credentials – the fact that they can be easily assembled and disassembled for recycling – into a teachable moment.
By allowing kids to construct their own headphones, they encourage a future generation of designers to learn about how things are made and how they could be made more sustainably."
